“Together Through Life” by Bob Dylan

Album: Together Through Life
Artist: Bob Dylan

Together Through Life borrows some pages from Tom Waits’ mid-career albums. Taking a gravel-voiced singer, sticking him in a bar in the middle of nowhere, and giving him a great blues backing band. Bob Dylan has always been able to adjust himself to new styles, and his latest album is no exception. There is a sense of gloom in the air as Dylan takes us through his sorrows, but he tells us his tales with a smile on his face. His band seems to be in on the fun as well, their whimsical delta blues bouncing along with a relaxed pace.

At 45 minutes long, there’s just enough to keep listeners satisfied and wanting more. There are plenty of toe-tapping, head bobbing, sing along moments within. Dylan fans will find plenty to love in Together Through Life, and anyone looking for an upbeat coffeehouse blues good time should look no further.
